Backup Solution (McLaren Infrastructure)

Context
As part of the pooling project between the Mercedes, McLaren, and Aston Martin teams, I was responsible for implementing a robust backup strategy for the McLaren infrastructure. The goal was to ensure the protection of technical data and system resilience against failures.
The solution is based on Veeam Backup & Replication software, installed on a dedicated Windows Server 2022 virtual machine. This infrastructure is virtualized under Proxmox and relies on HP servers equipped with RAID 10 disks for performance and reliability.
For backup storage, I deployed and configured a TrueNAS Scale instance with SMB shares serving as local repositories. I also integrated a Veeam proxy directly onto the Proxmox hypervisor to optimize data flows.
To comply with off-site backup rules, I configured an external copy on a Synology NAS located within the Mercedes team's infrastructure. This step included using rsync, Hyper Backup, and folder encryption to secure data transmitted between sites.
