Polarion
Early December 2024Context
Polarion is a tool used by various CIXI teams to share documentation for developed products. A proof-of-concept installation had already been set up by my internship supervisor before I took over the project.
However, I stepped into the project just after my supervisor's departure, leaving behind no real documentation. This complicated the production deployment of the service. Additionally, I still lacked some Linux knowledge at that time to fully grasp the Polarion documentation, which was primarily written for Windows.
Furthermore, the documentation is very generalized, providing few Linux-specific details for certain steps. Consequently, I had to familiarize myself with Linux and go far beyond the minor personal experiments I had done previously.
This project also involves monitoring and updates after validating the test server, followed by the production server once functioning is confirmed. Some updates were difficult to perform, especially with incomplete documentation. Nevertheless, I was able to quickly find solutions and carry out updates after a period of experimentation.
